A LESS NORMATIVE APPROACH TO A SHAREHOUSE.
2021, Brunswick
Rolling with the homies provides flexible short-term accommodation for students and young adults who strive for a sense of community. The tenants can reconfigure the furniture to accommodate large dormitories and private bedrooms. This sense of community is amplified by providing a public garden above the house. The upper space can be utilised by tenants and the public for community gatherings and private events. The community can use the roof-top garden to reduce the boundaries between suburbia and the natural world. Rolling with the homies reflects ephemeral qualities through the everchanging external envelope, the moveable furniture and the nature of the accommodation itself.

Furniture modules
Inspired by Ettore Sottsass jr's Mobile and Flexible Environment Module, we decided to create our own moveable furniture modules allowing for a range of configurations. These configurations are controlled by the tenants allowing for a more transformative home.
One of the most exciting design features is the inflatable external envelope which can inflate and deflate depending on the desired privacy. Another feature that allows for varying privacy levels is the skylight curtains scattered around the home, available for interaction.
